“I'd like to start by saying that we are so so pleased that JoJo’s Swim School was recommended to us.
Reuben's journey with water has been a difficult and challenging one ever since he was very small. He would become very distressed if he got water on his face – hair
washing was an 'interesting' event at home – and he was generally very fearful of the water.
As a family we would take Reuben to the pool and, as much as he would enjoy it, he was always clinging on and very reluctant to try new experiences, like a small slide
etc.
As time went on we reached out to a swim school to start a professional approach to a more positive relationship with water for Reuben. Sadly, this wasn't to be the case
and his fears and genuine concerns weren't met with the empathetic approach we had hoped for.
After a while, we decided to try again and this is when a friend told us about JoJo’s swim school and Reuben met Ellie. From the very beginning he was a different child in
the water. Ellie's never ending patience, reassurance and praise throughout lessons meant a happy and smiley boy left the pool after each swim. After time, Ellie was
then able to use this positive relationship with water to start pushing and challenging Reuben to become a confident swimmer, all at his pace which Ellie judges perfectly.
The friendly community JoJo has created at her swim school meant all parents cheered the day Reuben finally jumped into the pool on his own. Such a special moment.
Firstly, thank you Ellie and JoJo for giving Reuben the confidence to enjoy all the fun that comes from water, whether it be just splashing about or whizzing down slides.
And secondly, seeing him swim with his face in the water is something I didn't think I'd ever see, let alone him jumping in and collecting hoops from the bottom of the pool.
Good job!!!!”
